The Sound of Buildings is an audio exploration of Melbourne’s most architecturally significant buildings.

It provides listeners with a deeper level of understanding and context for the selected buildings, as well highlighting Melbourne’s diverse architecture and urban spaces through an exploration of cultural, monuments, government, residential, commercial, transport, education, health and sporting projects.

Like The Sound of Buildings Vol.1, this is an opportunity to discover Melbourne’s architecture from multiple perspectives.

The Sound of Buildings reveals that both the discipline of architecture, as well as its outcomes, are highly dynamic, ever-changing and never created (or changed) by only one singular voice, or for one single reason. Buildings are the products of intense and often complex collaborations. Sometimes hundreds of people participate in the conception and creation of a building like the Royal Children’s Hospital, or Hamer Hall (which are on this tour) and it still may never look like the architects originally intended - like Flinders Street Station.
